Discover the life in Le Lude at the time of Renaissance

During the week-end, the whole city travels back in time to celebrate a prosperous period: the Renaissance. In the bedecked streets, the acrobats,  minstrels, troubadours, artists ans craftsmen ensure the animation: street theater, falconry, juggling, dance, music, arts and crafts.

In the castle, the visit runs over 5 floors, from the moat to the North Tower. In the reception rooms, the visitors admire the decors from the 16th Century with the Entrance Hall and its Italian Renaissance style decoration, the polychromatic wooden ceilings of the Gallery, and the painting cabinet. In the North Tower, the rooms resume the everyday life at the 19th Century.

In the garden, the facades of the castle resume the history of French Architecture, especially with the South facade, typical of the Italian Renaissance period.
In the park, the different areas offer various atmospheres for a pleasant walk: the rose garden and its Chinese species, the French garden along the Loir river, the shaded spring garden, and above all the kitchen garden, exceptionally open to public during those days.

Activities for all the family

On Saturday (afternoon only) and Sunday, in the medieval kitchen, the wooden stove are lightened to cook  the traditional home made jams with the fruits of the kitchen garden. Once ready, the jam is put in jars and can be tasted on delicious crepes.

Saturday 21 at 5.30pm: falconry tournament
Sunday 22 at 10.30am: Great costume parade in the historical center of the town (departure in the garden of the castle)

• Gardens and shows: 10am – 6pm
• House (self guided tour with notice information) : 10am – 1pm / 2pm – 6.30pm (last access 30 min. before the closure)
• activities in the kitchen: 2pm-6pm on Saturday / 10.30am – 6pm on Sunday

Single rate : adult 12€ /free -18 years old

• House and gardens reachable for disabled people (except the 3 floors of the tower, the kitchen and the granary)
• On leached dogs allowed in the park
• Strollers allowed only in the park
• Parking in town (Place du Mail). Traffic prohibited int the city-center.

Le Lude Renaissance

The festive days are organized by the association Le Lude Renaissance.  They take place every two years.
